WFL Expectations Rankings - QB, RB, and WR

Written by Daniel Devito

Going into this draft, there is a lot of different perspectives on what makes a great prospect. Is it talent? Is it potential? How about football mind, consitentcy, scheme fit or simply have you heard their name before. In this article, I will be attempting to examine the careers of all of our draft prospects and examine what they SHOULD BE in the WFL. Of course our expectations will be different than reality. Our vision of what these prospects should achieve will be vastly different than the ones that each team will have and the full finished product on the field. But expectations should be had all the same. So without further ado, here are the Expectation Rankings for the Offensive side of the ball starting with the QBs.

As a note, I will be including all prospects whether they have been already assigned to teams or not so that we can get the full scope of the stars that are heading into our league.

QUARTERBACKS

1. Devante Moore - Maryland
2. Andre Pope - Virginia Tech
3. Colin Pierce - WYU/WFA *Wild
4. Isaiah Fowler *Blizzard
5. Alex Darr - Michigan *Maroons
6. Mac Chimah - Bowie State
7. Hue Jaynus - FAU/Florida Prison League *Legends
8. Nathair Falaichte - Ireland *Mauraders

We have been able to spend a lot of time uncovering the stories of these QBs and what they bring to the table over these past few weeks. Looking at the top of the list, the two guys with the biggest upsides have to be Devante Moore and Andre Pope, two guys with a lot of starting experience at the college level. These two are the guys you should expect to be the most pro ready talents in the class and the guys with the most potential long term. Moore gets the edge over Pope because even though his 4.30 is impressive, Moore seems like the more pro ready QB prospect. Colin Pierce obviously has a lot of pro experience but the expectations are lower since we have already seen what he looks like at the pro level and while the WFL is a fledgling league without a ton of pro players, he still shouldn't be the second coming of Hugo Zachary. Alex Darr and Mac Chimah are in simular tier for different reasons but it come down to competition. Darr was at Michigan and had a great deal of success when he played but he was only a gadget player and spent more time at RB than QB. Chimah on the other hand does have a lot of experience but had a lot lower compitition level and is only in the conversation because WFL Global has a location in his hometown. At the bottom of the list Hue Jaynus is someone that hasn't played any organised football in about 4 years and although his 2 games of college ball were impressive, he simply doesn't have any cachet that he definatly would have if he had stayed in school. And to round it out, Nathair Falaichte, the Media darling and the first big star to come out of the WFA Global program. This will be the test to see what can be made of a very raw talent in a short amount of time. He has the tools but without the years of organised football experience, expectations should be very low for what this man can do when his first pass is again a pro defense.

RUNNINGBACKS

1. Johnny Vennaro - Ohio State
2. Kevin Seay
3. Judon Richardson *Bucks
4. Aiden Teixeira - Ohio State
5. Dweezil Givens *Maroons
6. Big Papa Dre - Riverside Community College
7. OJ Alberga - Jamaica
8. Nolan Pierce - The Coal Mines *Legends

It all starts at the top with one of the best RBs in College football last year, Johnny Vennaro of Ohio State. He's got the speed and agility to make it at the next level and he is the biggest name this side of Rob Hunt coming out of college. Seay and Richardson are both guys with strong family ties in pro sports and should have a good deal of expectations placed on them. Teixeira was the 3rd Down RB at Ohio state and produced well while he was on the field. However he wasn't given a huge roll on offense and was really only on the field when he was the hot hand. Big Papa Dre also has some family ties but the main issue is his level of competition is far lower than should be expected from anyone looking to make the jump to the pros. OJ Alberga has ties to former WFA coach Jordan Andrews but much like Dre has little experience against high level competition and with football in general. However, he does posses all world levels of speed that make him a very intreging prospect. At last but not least, Nolan Pierce is a RB that hasn't played football since high school and while his strength is truly unmatched, it would be a mistake to place a lot of expectations on this young man's sholders.

WIDE RECIEVERS

1. Rob Hunt - Clemson
2. Ja'Sean Robinson - Oregon *Aviators
3. Robert Thump
4. Mac McDaniel *Aviators
5. Ryan Rosevelt *Wild
6. William HW Macy
7. Emmanuel Lunquist
8. Kebus Pipe
9. Corn Hubb *Blizzard
10. Quick Six - Buford HS
11. Mylin Thales - Ireland

Easily getting top billing on the WR list is Rob Hunt, The best WR in College Football. He almost won the heisman and was a record breaker at Clemson and should have a lot expected from him at the next level. Je'Sean Robinson is also someone to look out for. The Oregon product may not have as much production and accolades that Hunt has but he athletisim for days and is being compared to some of the best to ever do it. Also standing out is the 6'6" Robert Thump who brings a unique style to the position. Following him are big names directly linked to coaches in the league in McDaniel and Rosevelt.

At the bottom we have two very raw but very intreging personalities that being Quick Six and Mylin Thales. For Six, he was one of the best players in the HS scene which is nothing to sneeze at but expecting a player without any higher level experience to making it on the big stage is a lot to ask. As for Thales, If she had ever played football before, she would proably be a lot higher on the list but even without that, she has all the potential in the world if she can get the fundimentals down.

And that is what I have for you all today. There will be a few more prospect profiles going up through out the next 24 hours so look forward to those.
