Owner Spotlight: Logan Foster - Scotland Legends

Next up in the Owner Spotlight is the Head Honcho of the Scotland Legends, a sports legend in his own right, WFA Champion, Logan Foster.

Q: Give some of the background of who you are and why your history with football/sim sports will make you best owner in the WFL

My name is Logan Foster, I have been involved with simulation football since 2010. I got my start as an owner in the league that served as the precursor to the Simulation Football League. I was an owner in the World Football Alliance for several seasons appearing on two Gen Bowls and winning one as the owner of the Chicago Ghosts. Outside of simulation football, I coached high school and college football for about ten years and recently left coaching to focus on running my sportswear brand and starting a family.

Q: Why did you bring your WFL franchise to this market?

I chose Scotland because I fell in love with the country after spending a week there this past summer. It truly felt like home to me and having ancestral roots in the Highlands and having the opportunity to explore the region where my ancestors were born really left a strong impact on me. I hope to some day immigrate to Scotland.

Q: What was the inspiration for your team branding?

One of the symbols of Scotland is the unicorn. I felt that it embodied strength, finesse and tenacity all descriptions fitting for Scotland and for a football team. The name Legends comes from the legendary status of the unicorn in mythology.

Q: Going into the draft, what kind of team are you trying to build?

I want Scotland to be the toughest team in the WFL. I want teams to shudder when they see the Legends on their schedule. I want opponents to know that their defensive front is going to have their hands full against a balanced offensive attack that starts with a punishing run game. I want a defense that is going to smother opponents' run game and force them to be one dimensional.

Q: What team are you most excited to face off against?

I am really excited to play Pottsville and West Virginia. Both teams are owned by guys I consider good pals and it's always fun to compete against your friends.

Q: How do you weigh talent versus cultural fit?

I want players that have builds that fit the scheme or a scheme that fits the builds and I want people to join the Legends that aren't going to question that I'm doing what I believe is best for the team to succeed and compete on the WFL.

Q: How do you approach developing young quarterbacks? What do you look for when evaluating QB prospects?

Developing Quarterbacks is all about giving them time and reps. Young signal callers can't be expected to be a leader and develop as a professional right out of the gate, too often we see young QBs thrown into the fire and get burned up without having a real chance at success.

Within the context of the WFL, I'm looking for a QB who is less likely to put the team in bad positions. I want someone who is going to manage the game and distribute the ball effectively. I don't need a home run hitter, I prefer to play small ball and wear down the opponent's defense and clock.

Q: What is the most important position to you (other than QB) and why?

The most important positions on the field are Offensive and Defensive Line. You can have a mediocre quarterback and succeed, but you cannot have a mediocre line on either side of the ball and expect to succeed.

Q: And for a bit of fun- Who is your favorite musical artist of all time?

Favorite musical artist of all time would probably be Prince.

Thank you Logan for your time. We wish you luck this season. Stay tuned for more Owner Spotlight!
